Things to Come. . .
A lot of very exciting things going on in my life right now. The new album, "Some Assembly Required," is finished and coming at you 06/01/10. The release show will be 5/31 at Off Broadway. More details on that soon. Something else I'm excited about and will be officially announcing soon is a project I'm calling "Another Planet Fund." I will be taking a percentage of all proceeds from Some Assembly Required and donating them to charities that help out in 3rd world countries. Official info on that coming soon.

Scrotie McBoogerballs

Just checked out an episode from the new season of South Park:
"The Tale of Scrotie McBooger Balls"
I feel like they're losing their touch a little bit the last few seasons, but I liked this one. Without spoiling it if you want to watch it, I'll say this episode's main focus is on imagery in art. I agree with them in saying that way too many people read way too far into art. Some people think that every book, movie, and song has some deeper meaning under the surface. Not every piece of work is an "Animal Farm." I think a majority of the time an artist/author has said what they were trying to say on the surface of their creation. In cases where it IS meant to be given a deeper look, I think most people come to false conclusions about what is being said. People use "imagery" messages in art as a vehicle to push their personal religious and political agendas to other people. Maybe some artists want that - for their art to be about whatever you interpret it to be. Some might just be out to confuse you. There's probably an author/artist out there right now laughing at people for calling the main character of their work a "Jesus figure."

TOWER OF POWER!

Tower of Power is blowing my mind tonight. I landed on "So Very Hard to Go" on shuffle and got blown away by the horn arrangement. I remembered the vocals being awesome yet, somehow, forgot how amazing the horns were! Next, I went for some "What is Hip?" HOLY SHIT!! The guitars! The horns! The whole arrangement, actually. The vocals on "Clever Girl!" "So Very Hard to Go" for the second time!
